FWB - how long does it last?

Hi, Bi guy here. Attached but have occasional buds on the DL. I am curious to hear how having FWB is working for others. I have only had a couple that lasted. it seems to hard to be in sync in terms of availability, specific interest! , level of risky behaviour etc. to find a lasting fit. what are others experiences. I had 2 that lasted many yrs, both are still good friends, one I knew for over 30 yrs and the sexual part was for last 20, the other I knew about 20 yrs and both now we talk, but too far apart.
