Celebrate Bisexuality Day is observed on September 23 by members of the bisexual community and their supporters.

This day is a call for the bisexual community, their friends and supporters to recognize and celebrate bisexuality, bisexual history, bisexual community.
First observed in 1999,Celebrate Bisexuality Day is the brainchild of three United States bisexual rights activists: Wendy Curry of Maine, Michael Page of Florida, and Gigi Raven Wilbur of Texas. Wilbur said,

Ever since the Stonewall rebellion, the gay and lesbian community has grown in strength and visibility. The bisexual community also has grown in strength but in many ways we are still invisible. I too have been conditioned by society to automatically label a couple walking hand in hand as either straight or gay, depending upon the perceived gender of each person.

This celebration of bisexuality in particular, as opposed to general LGBT events, was conceived as a response to the prejudice and marginalization of the bisexual persons by some in both the straight and greater LGBT communities.

In its first year, an observance was held during the International Lesbian and Gay Association, which occurred during the week of the 23rd. While at first it only took hold in areas with an extremely strong bisexual presence, it is now celebrated worldwide.

It features events such as discussions, dinner parties and dances in Toronto and a large masquerade ball in Queensland, Australia, the week featured discussion panels and question-and-answer sessions. It has also been celebrated in Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

How should bisexual.com celebrate our bisexuality?

Who is bringing the cake? (chocolate is yummy ;) :bounce:

I think that Cat is bringing the cookies..homemade?...;)

Tsk Duckie.. really... incorrect? Did tenni say when it was last celebrated? And can u say for sure it has not been since 2009? Celebrations don't have to be part of any official shebang..

ahh I was referring to the site that tenni copied and pasted from, I never said that tenni said anything..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celebrate_Bisexuality_Day and I was referring to the official events in NZ..... cos it was not really celebrated in any true official capacity... just a few local events that have died off cos of lack of support from the bisexual community or if the truth be known, most of the bisexual community was not included or involved, something that is well known in NZ..... the way that any place south of auckland is treated like they are not part of the LGBT community

I know what u were saying.. I am able to read.. my point is that there was no need whatsoever for u to say it.. and certainly not with such obvious relish...

gee, fran....I am one of the group that is working towards creating a south island LGBT network with the support and help of the south island LGBT and we are doing very well, considering that we are getting no help, support or interest from the north island LGBT.... and IF people are interested, it could lead to funding for celebration of bisexuality day.....

if I was going to say anything with relish, it would be that the auckland LGBT can go fuck themselves with a barbed wire covered 3 foot dildo and using deep heat for lube.....cos the south island LGBT are proving that we will not STFU and disappear into the backwoods of nowheresville so they can hog the spotlight and all the funding for the LGBT

so how about you go back to sticking your nose into other threads that you think you know something about, like the thread about guys balls.....

Have we decided how we should "Celebrate Bisexuality Day" on bisexual.com yet?

The video in post 5 refers to how Conservapedia deals with bisexual. It defines it as having an attraction to heterosexuality and homosexuality desires and then goes on to make such statements that bisexuality is a lifestyle choice that is in direct contrast as logic and biblical values. Conservapedia points out Alistar Crawley, the occultist" as a bisexual. The video and and Conservapedia then goes on ranting about gay agenda..not the bisexual agenda..:(

Oh, yes we "Bisexuals" do have an agenda..don't we?

Would it be worthwhile to discuss famous bisexuals again as our Celebration?

Would it be beneficial to discuss falsehood and myths about bisexuality?

Should we all place the bisexual flag on our profile for September 23?

hmm? Come on bipeople? Should we just not discuss Celebrate Bisexuality Day?
