I know a couple(m/f) who each have an STI. One has genital herpes and the other has another STI(genital warts). They practice safe sex by the use of condoms and perhaps a damn device? The one who has herpes is on medication as needed and they have never ended up by catching each other's STI. I believe that most often there are warning body signs(tingling?) just before becoming contagious. They did stop using condoms when they wanted to get pregnant and still didn't catch each other's disease. They have been together for close to 14 years. It is possible. I'd check with a medical person though just to make sure. I may have mixed up some info.

The original poster will be fine especially if the person he's having sex with is on medication for herpes. I have a friend who was with another man for decades who had herpes. They did not have sex when the other man was having an outbreak, and he was on medications. Neither of them used condoms for anal or oral sex, both were HIV neg, and they were monogamous for decades. My friend never got infected with herpes from his partner who had it.

Yes, I believe that it is the woman who has HPV. She has her warts removed as needed. I thought that the condom and damn was to prevent him from getting genital warts. I'm fairly certain that he has herpes and has not spread it to her.

crsmax...... the herpes virus is a difficult one and many reports point to the fact that it can lay dormant in the body without flaring up and becoming visible as a out break
and people think that condoms will prevent the spread of it..... thats incorrect..... you do not have to be having sex to spread herpes as it spreads by surface skin to skin contact....

Genital ulcer diseases can occur in both male and female genital areas that are covered or protected by a latex condom, as well as in areas that are not covered. Correct and consistent use of latex condoms can reduce the risk of genital herpes.
Persons with herpes should abstain from sexual activity with uninfected partners when lesions or other symptoms of herpes are present. It is important to know that even if a person does not have any symptoms he or she can still infect sex partners. Sex partners of infected persons should be advised that they may become infected and they should use condoms to reduce the risk. Sex partners can seek testing to determine if they are infected with HSV. A positive HSV-2 blood test most likely indicates a genital herpes infection.
